Summer Possession

Standard Summer Possession

Summer Possession

Today is the summer solstice.  Summer possession for divorced parents is different from possession during the school year.   Some times begin and end at a different time of the day than school year possession and the length of time is purposely longer than school year possession.

There is no Thursday evening possession during the summer – only during the school year.  Standard summer possession in divorce decrees includes notices to be given by both mom and dad in the spring about the summer time. If you didn’t give your notice or you didn’t receive a notice from your ex, the summer possession block of time will follow your divorce decree.

Be sure to read your divorce decree to make sure you understand how your times with your child or children will work this summer.  If you have any questions, it is better to find out the answers early!  Happy Summer!
