kids-outsideSpring Tips for Divorced Parents

Divorced parents see the changes of seasons with a different perspective.  Spring is here and summer is right around the corner – so that also means that school is winding up for the year, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are right around the corner and schedules get crazy. So, if you are a divorced parent in Texas, you have some things to think about right now.  Here are 3 tips to make this time go as smoothly as they can.

 1) Read your divorce decree or final order.

Get to know it.  You may have to send a notice in a few days, or a few weeks, but either way you need to know what you have to do.  Right now, you have time to figure out what you need to do.

2) Do what you need to do, when you need to do it.

That sounds simple, and it is.  It is always easiest to do that.  Sometimes life happens and throws even the best plans a curveball but do what you can to make it simple.

3) Put reminders on your calendar, smart phone, or whatever it takes to be where you need to be when you have said you would be there.

If you find that you have read your final order and still don’t understand what or how the summer possession works for you, contact a good family law attorney.  They can review your documents and explain it to you.
