Should I Get a Divorce?
Truth? I don’t know. More truth? I won’t tell you ‘yes’ or ‘no’.
I can’t say whether you should get a divorce or not because it’s your marriage. Marriage is hard. Marriage is work. Marriage takes two working together toward a single goal of staying married.
That being said, certain divorce information and knowing the divorce process is important when making that decision. Divorce will redefine your family and this can take a toll on future co-parenting relationships and create stress. There can also be negative effects from staying married and not getting divorced. You may have an unhappy marriage. You may have a failing marriage. Each divorce is unique and personal based on one’s situation and requires that divorce decision to be a personal decision.
Two Parts of Divorce
Divorce isn’t easy even when it is the right choice. In my office, I say that each divorce has two sides: the emotional divorce and the business side of divorce. In a Texas divorce attorney’s office, we are going to work with our divorce clients through the business side of the divorce including the financials, property, debts and liabilities, grounds for divorce, spousal support, child support, parenting schedules and any other divorce issue between the divorcing spouses.
The emotional side of divorce requires other work. As a divorce coach, I have tools to help my clients with some parts of the emotional side to divorce. However, the particulars of each divorce require the tools needed for that divorce. A mental health professional is always a recommendation from my office for those going through divorce.
Get Good Divorce Information
Find out about the Texas divorce process first. Once you have good, solid facts about Texas divorce you can make educated choices and set goals for your divorce based on those facts. When you understand what is required in a Texas divorce, and what is going to happen in a Texas divorce you will know more about divorce than you did before. In my office, I believe that while it may be difficult and painful, getting divorce knowledge is worth every bit of work that it takes.
Choose the Right Divorce Attorney
Choosing the right divorce attorney is critical. Do you want to mediate your divorce? Do you want or need a litigator? Do you want a divorce lawyer who is a mediator and experienced in divorce mediation? Has the divorce attorney mediated a divorce online? Do you want to meet with a divorce attorney online? All of the factors are important when choosing the best divorce lawyer for your divorce.
In my office, I believe that a divorce without high conflict divorce litigation is possible. I believe a divorce with expected and understood attorney’s fees is possible. I believe that agreed divorce is possible. I believe in divorce goals and divorce strategy.
Find a good divorce attorney for your divorce. Make sure that you want to work with that divorce lawyer in your divorce.
